We have a new and exciting opportunity to join our Data team as a Data Quality Specialist.
You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring data quality frameworks, processes and roadmaps to ensure critical business data is accurate, complete, timely, and reliable. This role supports the organisation’s data governance strategy and regulatory compliance by working with data owners, stewards, custodians and business users, along with technology teams to identify and resolve data quality issues across key data domains.
We offer Hybrid working however as this role is linked to our Bournemouth offices, we will require you in on a regular basis (happy to discuss). This role is a 6 month Fixed Term Contract.
Key Accountabilities
• Develop and implement data quality rules, validations, controls and metrics for key data elements across multiple domains (e.g. customer, product, transaction, finance).
• Design and run data profiling, data quality assessments, and root cause analysis processes to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with data owners, data stewards, data custodians and IT to define and document business rules, controls and data quality standards.
• Maintain and enhance data quality dashboards and reports to track trends, anomalies, and KPIs.
• Work with data governance, regulatory, and compliance teams to ensure adherence to internal and external data quality standards.
• Participate in data quality improvement initiatives related to regulatory reporting, risk management and modelling, and customer analytics.
• Support the rollout of data quality tools (e.g. Purview but experience of other tools is a bonus, Informatica Data Quality, Talend, Ataccama).
• Collaborate with engineering teams and data custodians to embed data quality checks in pipelines, ETL jobs, and real-time processes.
• Provide training and support to business and technical stakeholders, Data Owners and Stewards on data quality best practices.
Skills and Experience
Essential
• Strong experience working in data quality, data analysis, or data governance roles within the financial services sector.
• Proficient in data profiling, data cleansing, and data validation techniques.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and working knowledge of Python, PySpark, or data wrangling tools.
• Familiarity with modern data quality platforms (e.g. Purview, Informatica, Talend, Collibra DQ).
• Ability to analyse and interpret data to identify patterns and anomalies across large datasets.
• Experience working with cloud data platforms (e.g. Azure, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric).
• Knowledge of data regulations and standards including GDPR, BCBS 239, and Solvency II.
• Strong communication and documentation skills to translate technical findings into business insights.
Desirable
• Experience with data quality in real-time or streaming data environments.
• Understanding of data lineage and metadata management.
• Exposure to data mesh, medallion architecture, or lakehouse patterns.
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM.
