We are pleased to announce an exciting new opportunity for an Actuary to join our established team on a fixed-term basis.
This is the perfect opportunity for an experienced Actuary to utilise their technical knowledge and actuarial skills, together with financial services industry knowledge, to identify and analyse issues within our Heritage business department, and propose and implement appropriate solutions. This will help us adhere to regulatory requirements and ensure that business needs are met and exceeded.
The role is based from our Bournemouth office, however we’re happy to offer a flexible hybrid working model.
Key Accountabilities
Our ideal candidate will…
- Provide actuarial support to the management of LV’s legacy with-profits business including rectification of issues affecting this business and other projects as required.
- Offer professional advice and support to senior management on a regular basis, to include the preparation of analysis.
- Work independently and to a high standard, developing new tools and/or building enhancement to existing actuarial models.
- Take a leading role in identifying possible improvements and proposing ideas on how to implement these improvements.
- Initiate and carry out specification of new systems and procedures, ensuring systems (or processes) within the Actuarial team are supported, enabling business needs to be met and exceeded.
- Assist in delivering recommendations and solutions to business problems, by using Actuarial systems, company systems or manual methods as necessary, and in an appropriate manner.
- Recognise the technical knowledge and abilities of each customer, ensuring that all work is produced to a high standard and in a timely manner, so that outcomes of the business plan are met and exceeded.
About You
Our ideal candidate will…
- Demonstrate significant Actuarial experience, which has been gained by working in life insurance, and ideally in With-Profits management.
- Have a good understanding of the changing financial services market.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be self-motivated and able work to your own initiative, as well as being an active team player.
- Possess a curious and analytical mindset.
- Consistently achieve high standards of quality customer focus.
- Be a Fellow (or nearly qualified) of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
- Be able to competently use Microsoft programmes such as Word and Excel.
