We are seeking a Lead Fabric Engineer to drive the design, development, and delivery of modern data solutions, using Microsoft Fabric.
This is a hands-on, technical leadership role requiring deep expertise in data engineering, Azure, and lakehouse architectures.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping and implementing enterprise-scale data platforms that support advanced analytics, reporting, and data governance. Leading a team of talented engineers, you'll ensure that best practices, performance, and scalability are at the heart of everything we deliver.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the end-to-end implementation of data solutions, using Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouse, Dataflows, Pipelines, Notebooks, Semantic Models).
- Building and maintaining data pipelines using medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold layers).
- Collaborating with stakeholders, architects, and analysts, to understand data needs and translate them into robust technical solutions.
- Mentoring and guiding a team of data engineers, fostering a high-performance, DevOps-driven culture.
- Driving best practices for data modelling, security, quality, and performance tuning.
- Managing integration with other Azure services including Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, and Power BI.
- Ensuring compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards.
- Continuously improving platform capabilities and maintaining knowledge of emerging technologies in the Microsoft data stack.
About You
Our ideal candidate will…
- Demonstrate proven experience in Azure data engineering and cloud-native development.
- Showcase strong, hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse (Delta format), OneLake, Pipelines & Dataflows Gen2, Notebooks (PySpark)Power BI & Semantic Models.
- Possess a solid understanding of data integration patterns, ETL/ELT, and modern data architectures.
- Be familiar with CI/CD practices in a data engineering context
- Have excellent SQL and Spark (PySpark) skills.
- Have obtained experience in working with large, complex datasets and performance optimization.
- Exhibit strong leadership and communication skills.
- Demonstrate previous experience in leading and mentoring a technical team.
- Be Microsoft Certified (Azure Data Engineer Associate or Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate) – desirable.
- Have experience of working with source control (Git), Azure DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) – desirable.
- Ideally be familiar with data governance tools like Microsoft Purview
- Have Domain experience in Finance and Insurance – desirable.
