  • About The Role

  • At LVFS, we have a fantastic new opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join us as a Training & Competence (T&C) Manager.

    The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our Operations Managers (who perform the T&C Supervisor function) to ensure the effective development and assessment of employees who fall within our Training & Competency Scheme. This will involve supporting employees to achieve full competency within the timescales and criteria set out in the Scheme, and then to maintain this, using training, coaching and assessment skills to deliver compliance with our quality framework and to ensure good customer outcomes are consistently achieved.

    They will also be instrumental in driving the design, implementation and ongoing review of policies and procedures associated with the T&C Scheme, including our advice principles and propositions.

    About You

    Our ideal candidate will…

    • Evidence a strong background of working within the Financial Services industry, particularly within pensions, investments, and ideally Equity Release
    • Have a proven track record of developing people within the regulatory environment, being experienced with training and competence regimes and being familiar with the Regulatory environment (COBs, MCOBs and ICOBs)
    • Embrace continuous improvement and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the industry and regulations.
    • Maintain knowledge of the business governance structure, operating models, and risk requirements.
    • Be approachable and able to build strong working relationships, with the confidence to challenge others where required.
    • Have fantastic verbal and written communication skills, together with the ability to present information in an engaging manner.
    • Competently manage own workload and priorities.
    • Be self-motivated and proactive within day-to-day responsibilities.
    • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • Have a Diploma in financial planning or equivalent (where an appropriate certificate in Equity Release advice is not held, the role requires a commitment to attaining this, along with any future examinations that may be appropriate to changing and/or expanding business needs).

    Key Responsibilities

    • Effectively developing and assessing the regulated financial advisers and Retirement Options Specialists through the T&C Scheme to achieve ‘Competent Status’, within the timelines and requirements outlined in the T&C Scheme.
    • Taking responsibility for the delivery and oversight of the T&C Scheme, providing first-line assurance for people development and regulated activities, and the approval assessment of competency progression through “Attaining Competence”, and “Maintaining Competence”.
    • Joining our Advice Principles & Investment Committee, which shapes and implements policies and processes, including our advice principles and centralised retirement proposition.
    • Owning the advice and investment principles documents, ensuring these are maintained to meet the Advice Principles & Investment Committee mandated policies.
    • Identifying training needs for both individuals and groups, using Development Plans to address these, and sourcing, where appropriate, resources to meet these needs.
    • Maintaining and continually developing your skills and knowledge of financial services and regulations to ensure that changing needs of retail customers are met by Advisers and Options Specialists within the Consumer Duty framework.
    • Undertaking and accurately documenting quality assurance, “deep dive” and/or thematic reviews of advice processes undertaken by Advisers and Options Specialists by reviewing their files, calls and documentation.
    • Providing clear, timely, and constructive feedback of assessments and proposing areas of deep-dive focus, based on data and MI produced in your role.
